Starship Typhon

Starship Typhon

The Typhon was part of our Sole Survivor campaign in 2024. It is an three deck Encom Martin Ursa Class E Interstellar Shuttle, an interstellar vessel designed to shuttle crew and cargo between mid-distance colonies.

While not an official design, the Typhon is made to feel like it could fit in a Alien universe, or be used in Star Wars, Traveller or Starfinder, any Tabletop RPG or War Game that uses sci-fi miniatures.

The ship is equipped with the communications and sensor equipment necessary for endurance missions amongst the stars. While not the fastest vessel, it is quick for its size and the standard configuration can travel a distance of one parsec roughly every two weeks.

The ship is detailed inside and out. Below are some concept art of the medbay, locker room, ladder well and bridge.

The Three Decks of Typhon

Deck A

The Typhon has a dedicated fusion reactor and engineering room. There is also a galley and sleeping quarters for the crew when they are not in cryosleep.

Deck B

The ship is built around a large cargo bay suitable for transporting a moderate cargo of freight or fit an APC-sized vehicle. The bridge has three crew positions and a computer mainframe. A cryobay, medbay and workshop complete the vessel’s facilities.

Deck C

A network of service ducts, maintenance shafts and access tunnels loops around the interior of the ship. They connect to a series of iris doors and a main air shaft with the air filters.

Deck C, more cargo bay (interior APC shown), air scrubbers and a labyrinth of tunnels.

The labyrinth of crawlspaces in the Typhon has many dark places…

  • Length: 37.6 m (63.7 cm)
  • Width/Beam: 26.3 m (44.5 cm)
  • Height/Draught: 11.2 m (19 cm) or 15.6 m (26 cm) with the dorsal dish

The Typhon is at 28mm scale by default (1:59, 1″/25.4mm == ca. 5’/1.5m) and is approximately 25 inches long when printed out without its antennae, or about 637 mm in length. It is similar in size to our Type S Scout/Courier, but has much greater displacement and internal capacity, bringing it to a similar volume to our Beowulf.

The ship is designed to print on several build plates. As with all our modern ships, we provide 3MF build plates for fast print settings. Use our settings in your slicer or customize to suit your build plate with minimal effort. Every part has been oriented for optimal FDM printing and is designed to be entirely support free.

It takes several days of printing at 0.16 mm layer heights, but looks good even at 0.2 mm layer heights. We design for FDM 3D printers, but our models can be printed on resin printers with little modification

Typhon assembles without glue using the OpenLOCK clip system, and is compatible with all of our ships and designs from the last seven years.

The Typhon is fully released, printable and has assembly instructions at the ready.

The ship is available at our distributor MyMiniFactory. You can find it at Myminifactory by clicking the image to the right.
